More than anything else in Jewish life and tradition, the Torah Scroll calls forth the symbol of our eternity and continuity. Ever since we all stood together at the foot of Mount Sinai three thousand years ago, the Torah Scroll has united Jews around the world as a testament of our loyalty to G-D, our religion, our people and our destiny. In good times and in difficult periods, the Torah has, and continues to be, our strength and fountain from which we collectively and individually receive our energy and resolve to stay the course of the miraculous Jewish journey.
It is with this sentiment of future and eternity that our Shul invites you to join with us as we embark on a New Sefer Torah Campaign being written in memory of Toby Eagle , of blessed memory. Toby was tragically taken from our midst on August 3, 2007 in a terrible car accident in South Carolina. She was on her way to bring joy and inspiration to a Chabad summer camp where she had previously spent her summer. Toby’s trip was cut short, but we must continue to capture her spirit and vigor for which she was beloved by all who knew her.
Countless numbers of people were touched by Toby during her short but precious life. She always found a way to notice people who needed encouragement, a smile, or a friend. Her dedication to Torah and its values were sincere and deep. Please help us perpetuate Toby’s life by obtaining your own letter in the Toby Eagle Sefer Torah being written by and for her family’s Congregation, Bais Lubavitch of Baltimore. With the letter(s) you purchase you help preserve the heritage and values that were so dear to Toby.
